Basic set update 2.4 and Halflings set update 2.2
February 01, 2021By Jan KovaříkUpdates
These updates are both (Basic set and Halflings set as well) rather "technical", as most of the new icons were made upon on requests I received during the last year. Some of them should be already part of the previous update, but I wasn't able to finalize them in time. So, in the dry language of numbers, with 30 new icons it's 1060+ icons for Basic set and 30 new icons in Halflings set make a nice equal number of 300+ icons.
Custom icons process
January 31, 2021By Jan KovaříkHow to
Over the years, I had the privilege to create custom icons for various companies, organizations and individuals. I learned very quickly, that each client has slightly different requirements, as each project is unique and has its own specifics. Nevertheless, there is a certain pattern for custom icon design process, routine even, made of the steps that repeat in each project.
The first version of the Contagion set
January 30, 2021By Jan KovaříkUpdates
Last year, the global pandemic changed our day-to-day lives in ways and degree nobody expected. Lockdowns, quarantines and even restrictions of personal gatherings, this affected more or less all of us.
The first version of the Camera set
December 20, 2020By Jan KovaříkUpdates
The way people consume content on the web has shifted during the last decade. As YouTube is now the second largest search engine (crazy right?), video is something you can't ignore.
More than ten years together
December 19, 2020By Jan KovaříkThoughts
November 11th, 2020 marked the tenth anniversary of GLYPHICONS icons. More than a decade, since I draw the first icon set. It still kind of blows my mind, every time I think about it. Ten years may not seem like a particularly long time, but when you put it in a perspective of today‘s average lifespan of tech startups, it's a quite long time.
The first version of the Weather set
July 27, 2020By Jan KovaříkUpdates
It almost seems like the demand for apps showing various weather conditions is never ending and it kind of makes sense, as depending on the weather, we often plan our whole day ahead. Almost everybody have some kind of weather app installed on their phone or desktop computer. So naturally, I've been getting a lot of requests for weather icons during the last few years and now I finally had some time to create them.
Basic set update 2.3
February 18, 2020By Jan KovaříkUpdates
1030+ icons in total make the Basic set the biggest GLYPHICONS icon pack ever. I know it's obvious and that the Basic set has always been the biggest. It may sound a bit like when new iPhones are introduced – with a better display, thinner body and better battery, it's the best iPhone ever made – of course it is! Nobody would buy a new, but slightly worse iPhone :). But this is not an iPhone, this is different.
The first version of the Mind set
February 17, 2020By Jan KovaříkUpdates
I remember that not so long ago the meaning of terms such as meditation or mindfulness was known only to a minority, at least in the western world. Today, these words have penetrated almost all mainstream media and most of us have at least a vague idea about their meaning. I think it's great that more and more people try to live in a present moment and improve their mental health. Also one of the side effects is that those people become kinder, more relaxed and compassioned.
Introducing the new Humans set
December 08, 2019By Jan KovaříkUpdates
This new set of people's silhouettes is a combination of traditional pictograms and modern icons. They come in handy anytime you need to express something concerning people's actions or activities and since they share visual language and attributes with the rest of the GLYPHICONS sets, it's great to use them together.
Basic set update 2.2
July 22, 2019By Jan KovaříkUpdates
A thousand icons... My first thought was: phew, it's done! But almost immediately I realized: wait, what's "done" exactly, what does it really mean? It actually means it's a nice rounded number and that's about it. The best thing I can actually do would be just to keep calm and carry on, with no fanfare, no ceremony or silly discount, to celebrate this occasion.
On sales and discounts
July 21, 2019By Jan KovaříkThoughts
From time to time, I get an email from a customer asking for a discount. I always try politely explain, why I don't do any sales, but it is difficult to keep my answer brief without sounding harsh. That's why I've decided to wrote this article, so I can refer to it whenever I got a similar request (feel free to use it too). Don't expect any vocational marketing article, I have literally zero knowledge in marketing and the following text is rather my own brief personal reflection on this problem and as my experience is almost solely with icons, the following text will apply mainly to digital products.

Halflings set has got its first update since version 2.0 and this group of tiny icons is now larger than before. This update is already out now and as always, completely free for all previous owners. You can see all 30 new icons right now, on the Halflings page or simply open your inbox, download the latest version and check them out in more detail.

It turned out that many GLYPHICONS customers don't know how to use their account or aren't even aware that they have such a thing. As this concerns everyone who ever bought any set / license (including those who own former PRO version), I should have written this tutorial probably sooner, well, better late than never, right? Luckily, to claim your account is really a simple process and it allows you to access all your previous (and future) orders in one place. Let's get down to it.
Basic set update 2.1
April 23, 2019By Jan KovaříkUpdates
The oldest, the biggest and the most universal GLYPHICONS set has just got its latest update. Version 2.1 brings 50 new icons, such as: honeybee, wireless-charging or passport and of course many other improvements. All icons are made solely on customer suggestions this time.
April 22, 2019By Jan KovaříkUpdates
Last year's version 2.0 was the most important milestone in the entire GLYPHICONS existence and updated logo was part of it. Yet, because of all the fuss around this version and the lack of time and my attention caused it didn't get as much attention as it deserved. Now, when everything settled down, it's been a great time to re-evaluate its appearance in the context of new icons and the entire website.
The first version of SVG tool
March 29, 2019By Jan KovaříkUpdates, How to
Today, I'm really happy that I can announce the first version of this new online SVG tool! This simple web tool runs in almost any common desktop browser and it lets you upload multiple individual SVG icons, edit some of their basic attributes (without changing anything else in their code) and download all icons back to your computer in one ZIP file.
The first update of the Smileys set
March 07, 2019By Jan KovaříkUpdates
Here we're, with the first update of this year and also very first update for the new Smileys set. This update 1.1, brings a total of 20 brand new icons, including some new roles, such as: cowboy, ninja or clown! As always, this update is available right now and free of charge, for all previous owners.
Introducing GLYPHICONS 2.0
October 23, 2018By Jan KovaříkUpdates
I've finally caught up with everything around, even though I'm still catching my breath. Due to many circumstances, this version took much more time than I expected, but every cloud has a silver lining and thanks to this, I had a time to rethink and most importantly to recreate all GLYPHICONS from scratch and set a new direction for the whole project.
New website and new features
October 22, 2018By Jan KovaříkUpdates
Along with the version 2.0 and all related changes, I also created a new website, which doesn't have only a new design, but it also reflects the new internal structure of the whole project and contains a number of enhancements that you could easily miss, so let me highlight all the important improvements that have been made in a text below.
